Whiskey Sour

Ingredients

45ml Whiskey (Bourbon)

30ml Simple syrup

20ml St Andrews Limes Lemon Juice

10ml egg white (optional)

Angostura Bitters

Lemon slice for garnish

Method

Combine the whiskey, syrup and lemon juice and egg white (if using) in a mixing glass/shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a coupe or old fashioned glass, add a few drops of bitters and garnish with a slice of lemon. 

The classic sours, Whiskey, vodka, rum- that separate the amateur bartender from the pro. This is an easy drink to screw up and a hard one to nail, because the ratio of flavours is a precarious balance. The proper ratio is whats in this recipe, which is a variant on the classic punch formula as below;

3- of strong

4- of weak plus spice
