A classic sidecar – cognac, orange liqueur, and the bright acidity of St Andrews Limes Lemon Juice – finished with a sugared rim to balance the tart edge.
Ingredients (serves 1)
- 60ml cognac or brandy
- 30ml orange liqueur (such as Cointreau)
- 25ml St Andrews Limes Lemon Juice
- 1 tsp caster sugar, for the rim
- 1 lemon wedge, for rimming the glass
- 1 lemon twist, to garnish
Method
- Sugar the rim — Run the lemon wedge around the outside edge of a chilled coupe glass, then dip the rim into a shallow plate of caster sugar to coat evenly. Set aside to firm up while you make the drink.
- Shake — Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the cognac, orange liqueur, and lemon juice. Shake hard for 10–15 seconds, until well chilled.
- Strain and serve — Strain into the sugar-rimmed coupe, taking care not to disturb the rim. Garnish with a lemon twist.
